I highly recommend this book!

The novel “The Gospel According to Mary, Mother of Jesus” was a great read…I had a hard time putting it down. Pastor Bartow, in a very real and tangible way, depicts how this ordinary, just like you and me girl/woman, may have experienced her life after being visited by the angel of the Lord. To read how she may have viewed some of the amazing events only to learn later the bigger picture. The Magi calling Jesus “King of the Jews”, then Mary envisioning him being King and the unexpected fulfillment of when her son Jesus hung on the cross with the very title above his head “King of the Jews”. This was not how she had imagined it and yet, she realizes God’s much bigger plan. This is true of our lives; we think something will happen one way but when it comes to pass, the outcome is totally different. She recalls Jesus telling her that he came to show us the Father but that so many missed this core fact of his message. You will find the biblical references to the historical facts cross referenced at the end of the book. It is a scriptural, in depth gift for your private Bible study time. I pray that if you do not know God the Father by believing in the Lord Jesus Christ, you will after reading this book.

Thought provoking

The book as written is a thought provoking story. Our world does not begin to know what it would be like to watch our own son be crucified. Our ability to understand is very limited about the Christ child, and how the plan of salvation has been offered to us. The reality of Jesus' life, is hard to grasp, but the book puts a better understanding of how things may have been through Mary's eyes. As I stated, very thought provoking.
It has been awhile that I have read the book,& the more time I have had to consider this book, the more I can see the possibility of what really was happening in Jesue life, along with how a mother might feel.

Unique and touching book

I have read many Christian books, but never one from this unique perspective. This was a tender, yet inspiring, love story about the life of Jesus, that is written from the perspective of his aged mother, Mary.
It creatively weaves together Mary's memoirs about being chosen to be the mother of the Son of God, with the historic, Biblical account of the life of Jesus.
The book was captivating and touched my heart. I particularly enjoyed reading it as I prepare for the Christmas season. It was the perfect book to focus on Jesus - the reason for this (and every) season! Because it is an engaging, easy-read format, I think it will be enjoyed by young and old readers.
