Brother Newell has such a meek and humble spirit about him and it shines in this little book by breathing hope back into some that may have given up and think they aren't worthy or good enough to deserve another chance. Yes you are! He walks us through how there is renewal naturally everywhere in nature! The scriptures are full of imperfect people learning and growing into great spiritual leaders after feeling down and broken. There is always hope, but don't put it off till later. Life is so much more meaningful when you have meaning and purpose now.
I bought this to be a gift to a nonmember friend and in the process of reading it myself have thought of 5 other people I'd really like to share it with. It's simple and easy to follow for teens or young adults who are questioning if the gospel works and is really worth living or not. It is! I highly recommend this book. Thank you brother Newell!

It took me a long time to finish because I needed to take frequent breaks from the overwhelming feelings of love and truth I received when going through it. This is a great resource!

Cathy Duffy runs a review website and I recently consulted it because I was unhappy with two of my resources. I ended up buying this book and I was so glad I did. In fact, I wished I had read it a long time ago. It wasn't just valuable because of the reviews, but also because it stepped me through teaching styles, learning styles, philosophies of schooling, etc. all the while helping me define my own situation and desires. Then, she shows you which resources she thinks will work best for your desires and rates them on things like prep time, teacher involvement, cost, etc. It really is a great resource!

Must for New Homeschoolers

There are as many ways to homeschool as there are homeschoolers. Duffy's book gives an overview of each of the most popular philosophies. She also provides provoking questions and an inventory to help you find where your family fits in. The curriculum review portion of the book is also a great place to start looking at curriculum, if you go that route. There are literally hundreds of choices -- sometimes hundreds just in one subject -- Duffy is a place to look at many of hte most popular. I think her book is perfect for most new homeschoolers because it's a book that gives you an overview of the philosophies. Then you can get to the internet to look more deeply into any that spur your interest.

LOVE this book!! Before buying it, I spent many hours reading and researching curriculum and reviews. Even Cathy Duffy's website! This book is so much more than the title implies. I was hesitant to spend the money on the book, thinking it would just be more in-depth reviews than what her website had. But it's so much more! Ms. Duffy walks you through questions to figure out what your very own schooling philosophy is, set priorities, determine what your learning style is, what your children's learning styles are, and helps you put all that information together to figure out which curriculum could work for you and your family. This book has saved me so much time, helped me organize my thoughts, and simplified the curriculum decision for me. I am thanking God for this book right now!
