Pinterest in a cookbook

This is like Pinterest in a cookbook without the confusing mommy-blog narration about how the kids are in school and she’s gaining weight. It’s great!

Pictures of the recipes are included in an attached PDF and there’s a clickable TOC, narrowed down by category, that us readers can use- it’s really quite convenient. The true advantage is that because it’s a Kindle book I can just go to the search bar, type in ‘yogurt’ or some other ingredient and I’m able to see what recipes it’s listed in as Kindle searches through to see where the word is mentioned.

The best part, besides the formatting, would have to be the encouraging tone that the author uses throughout it- Jamie’s a friend, ready to help us! The tonality is really a nice touch, and I’ve already pinned this to the top of my Kindle page for easy access.

We go to way too many holiday parties and tend to see the same people at most of them. So, in order to change up the desserts that we take to some of these, I picked up author Jamie Stewart's new "Dessert Cookbook." There are some wonderful dessert selections in here and we've made several at home just to test out already. A few of our favorites so far are the Walnut Pumpkin Cookies, the Everyday Family Fudge, and the Chocolate Cherry Cake. Every recipe is very easy to make and well-explained. Definitely recommend this one if you're looking for a comprehensive dessert cookbook.

Johnny Has Gone for a Soldier, Shenandoah, and The Water Is Wide are often sung, but my favorite from this book is I Know Where I'm Going. The Cd is a wonderful tool for students to learn notes and rhythms at home. The piano accompaniments are manageable. I highly recommend this book.

Nice simplified arrangements

I accompanied someone as they sang "Shennendoah." The timing for the singer was a little different than we both expected, but it worked out fine. The arrangements are simplified.

One glaring flaw to a great resource

The Cthulhu Mythos Encyclopedia is a great resource for fans of the Cthulhu Mythos, fans of the Call of Cthulhu RPG, fans of weird fiction, and fans of cosmic horror. There is a great amount of detail in the book on creatures, gods, and characters in the mythos. A listed bibliography and listed stories for each entry is great and helps expand a reader's suggested reading for the genre.

The book itself is a dense tome, and often reads like an academic work with no illustrations as well as keeping a large amount of entries down to a paragraph. There is an exceptional amount of entries, a great many are not works of Lovecraft himself but of other authors.

The biggest issue with this book is a lack of a Table of Contents, an index, or any way to find a particular entry quickly. For a dense 400 page book, this is a major hindrance and one that can't be overlooked.

This is a necessary resource for anyone serious about the Cthulhu Mythos. Whether you are a writer, gamer or an enthusiast of HP Lovecraft and other horrors, this book is highly recommended. The information in this book is great for creating plot hooks, or what stories to search for to learn more about a specific topic for further exploration.

Need to find out more about Ubbo-Sathla to write a time travel story about wizards?
Look up Ubbo-Sathla, find out that Clark Ashton Smith wrote Ubbo-Sathla, and that god is mentioned in the Book of Eibon. You'll find an appendices about the Necronomicon.
More importantly Dan Harms included a guide on how to handle and use others intellectual property from a non-legalistic standpoint, but more from a standpoint of being ethically creative while respecting to the continuity.

Somewhere in storage I have the second edition of this book, but I have a digital copy on my iPhone, laptop and desktop computer. For my podcast I find this to be a great resource.
Unfortunately I have occasionally ran across instances where Mr. Harms references a story that is no longer in print and hard to find(even after contacting the author or the story). That would be my only gripe. Otherwise this is wonderful, also I am happy that it is a book that covers literature as well as RPG source material due to the fact that the two have become intertwined in the last 30+ years. I am also thankful that the book doesn't rely on any goofy lovecraftian tricks, spooky typefaces or faux-aged paper. It's nice to have some people take this space monster business seriously.

Great CoC Mythos reference

It's a reference book on Cthulu Mythos. The Questions on the Amazon rating screen are for a novel or biography and completely irrelevant to a reference work. It's funny. They ask the same questions on a Roll Players Guide book. If you play CoC or just want to understand the world of H.P. Lovecraft and his collegues, this will help. It even has some explanations of how successive authors have changed or added to the mythos.

Hydrology in Practice

The first edition of Hydrology in Practice by Elisabeth Shaw published in 1983 was a standard text.The handbook explains very well the data-collection, which are the basis for hydrology and its applications. It described basic hydrological analysis at undergraduate level. We are almost 30 years later and it became more than necessary to update this book. Three authors, Keith Beven, Nick Chappel and Rob Lamb, did a very good job in updating while maintaining the original spirit and strength of the book. The update is situated in firstly the modern measurement methods, secondly new insights in hydrological processes and thirdly hydrological modelling.
Only minor point is the narrow UK-orientation. While illustrating by many practical examples is a very strong point (present as from the first edition), this edition could have been the oportunity to open up to the world.
The fourth edition is certainly a "must-have" for hydrologists and is very useful for teaching.

The authors, both cognitive psychotherapists, identify 11 common "lifetraps," which they define as repetitive, destructive behavior patterns associated with a negative self-image. Using illustrations from case studies, the authors describe each lifetrap, discuss its origins in childhood experience, and provide a questionnaire for self-assesment. They then offer a program for change using techniques ranging from experiential (getting in touch with your inner child) to cognitive (writing a "case" against your lifetrap) and behavioral (identifying specific behaviors to be changed). I have never said this before about any book, but this one is a life changer for me!

I have been suicidally depressed since I was five years old. I have spent 40 years in therapy and I am on a cocktail of meds. I have had ECT treatments with varying success. I was ready to give up on therapy and possible get a cigulatomy. Then I found this book. It all seems familiar. There is nothing radical in it, but seeing things presented as lifetraps (schemas) allowed me to see myself in a new way. I recognized myself in the subjugation lifetrap. As difficult as it was I started to assert myself, to ask for help and be honest with myself about my own passive-aggressiveness and my depression started lifting! As soon as I was manipulated into doing something I didn't want to do, I could feel the depression returning. I later told that person I would not be able to help after all and the depression lifted. It was the classic case depression being anger turned inwards. Its just that I turn it inward so fast that I never knew that it was anger. I am looking forward to finding myself in some of the other lifetraps.

An Outstanding Self-help Resource

This is brilliant work. It is easy to read, there are interesting examples of all nine schema (the filters you see your life through) and the "how to" chapter offers the diligent a way to work through behaviors that no longer serve you. The reader must make the commitment to complete the exercises and be willing to get assistance when the going gets tough, but the tools are here to help you understand and accept yourself and make healthy choices.

I have shared the book with numerous friends and family members. The feedback has been positive and what people tell me again and again is that the book gave them hope...hope of conquering behaviors that interfered with relationships, career advancement, handling money prudently. It is very powerful, so if you want to feel better about yourself and you've been wondering how to make that happen, give this book a try. I am confident you will feel you got your money's worth.

Revisionist survey of the part played by Jews since c 1694

Franz Johann Irsigler (born 1900) was a Catholic who lived in France and South Africa, where he worked in neurology and the brain.

Irsigler has chapters on the American War of Independence, Who Plotted World War I ..., Who Plotted World War II ..., Roosevelt, financing of the so-called 'communist revolution', Churchill, the CIA, the press, paper money, Eisenhower a 'friend of Bernard Baruch ... promoted over 150 others ... without battle experience', 'Why genocide and holocaust', the Soviet Union's covert industrialisation, debt and developing nations, and a lot more. He has quite a good writing style. But his title is hopelessly misleading!)

This book has eighteen chapters, but layout and logical structure is weak; hence four stars. Some chapters are in effect book reviews; others switch between topics; and the bibliographical information is not very good. His sources include books like 'None Dare Call It Conspiracy', 'The Red Pattern of World Conquest', 'The Federal Reserve and Our Manipulated Dollar'. 'Western Technology and Soviet Economic Development' gets an unclear mention. Ingersoll (the rationalist) is quoted - Irsigler notes that Catholicism has the idea of eternal punishment, for example. There's some specific South African influence - the Afrikaners wanted to keep out of WW2, he says; he also notes that going to war was liked by many - they got regular pay.

The collection seems to have been published first in 1980. It needs improved titles, subheadings, a table of contents, and indexing. And really it should be edited to collect the ideas more readably. But anyone interested in revisionist (i.e. true) approaches to the first and second world wars, and related topics, would learn a lot from Irsigler.
