Excellent Introduction

A great starting point, with an especially helpful bibliography for further reading. As a museum professional I recommend this book often to new employees and others trying to learn how to go about branding their institutions - a necessary good/evil(?) today.

A delightful start

Wallace's work was the first book to be included in my selected bibliography in my master's thesis. Despite the fact that some of the material needs a serious social media and beyond perspective, it gives a fantastic basis for Web 2.0 communication written for an administrator.
I loved her easy to understand writing style.
Her section on university museums is spot on. It's a training ground with a demographic that is easily recruitable. The amount of money left on the table, an underlying theme, is staggering with museums unwilling to shed 19th century notions of themselves, not to mention 20th century perceptions.

It's a shame the book is so expensive. It's a great foundation for future rebranding efforts at all museums, which will be required soon.

Hopefully another printing and update will lower the price and keep the entire book relevant.

One of a kind from R.L.Stine's gooesbumps series

This book is certainly one of a kind.

Another great book by R.L.Stine, and this is one of my favorite books. Whether you like science fiction or not, you will still like this book if you're goosebumps/R.L.Stine fan.

Sammy Jacob is into ghosts and science fiction. Not exactly the smartest hobby- at least not if you ask Sammy's parents. They're research scientists and they only believe in REAL science.

But now Sammy's met someone who's totally unreal. He's hanging out in Sammy's room. And eating his cereal at breakfast. Sammy's got to find a way to get rid of his new "friend" Only problem is... Sammy's new friend is invisible! (From the back of the book)

The reason why I like this book so much has to be the ending. I mean, the storyline is great. But the ending is very twisted, funny, and for me, cool. I often wonder how R.L.Stine gets his ideas.

To people who don't like Goosebumps because its not scary. What do you expect? It's for 7 - 12 year old kids, meaning not very frightening but a mysterious ending. Goosebumps is a mystery book in a sort way, because every time you read goosebumps series, you wonder how the storyline is going to be connected to the ending. I started to read goosebumps at the age of 8, and never once did I thought goosebumps was scary. (I read almost every book of the Original Goosebumps Series). But I still love goosebumps, and R.L.Stine is the authour that made me wanting to be an authour. So the bottom line is, don't read goosebumps if you want chill on your back. If you want a chill, I'd say watch the movie "The Grudge". LOL!

Anyways, this book gets 5 star for great storyline, ok characterism, and some-what cool ending. =)

Can Sammy get rid of Brent before Brent ruins his life?

Synopsis: Sammy Jacobs wishes he were invisible because his parents never seem to want to spend any time with him. Sammy's parents, who are scientists, always admire and praise Sammy's brother Simon, because Simon has a very serious personality, and is interested in science and school activities. Sammy is a science fiction freak and loves anything that has aliens in it. Therefore, when he finds his bedroom window open, his homework scattered on the floor, and finds himself tripping over "nothing", Sammy begins to feel that something strange is going on.

When his friend Roxanne Johnson comes to visit Sammy, she suggests they do their class report on the ghost of Hedge House, a house that is supposed to be haunted. Roxanne suggests going to the house and videotaping the ghost for their report. Sammy soon realizes that there is either a ghost or an invisible person by the name of "Brent Green" in his room.

At first, Sammy thinks that having an invisible friend would be cool, but later he finds out that Brent is ruining his life. When he asks Brent to appear in front of Roxanne, Brent doesn't show up, and Roxanne decides to tell everyone in school about Sammy's make believe friend, making him a laughing stock. Things go from bad to worse at home, when Brent creates a mess out of Sammy's room and eats half the food at home, placing all the blame on Sammy. Brent also ruins Sammy's chance at the track race, making all the students hate him, and an incident in the library makes the librarian think that Sammy is crazy.

Can Sammy figure out a way to get rid of Brent, especially when he starts to think that Brent could be dangerous?

Review: I did not think that this book was as good as others in the series. For one thing, there is no explanation given as to why Brent decides to choose Sammy as a best friend over everyone else. He just suddenly appears in Sammy's life and no explanation is given as to why. Secondly, the story starts to repeat itself though the book as Brent ruins Sammy's life in different situations without Sammy doing anything about it.

However, this is not to say that the book is extremely bad. I thoroughly enjoyed the part where Roxanne and Sammy go to Hedge House and Roxanne gets terrified. I felt this was a good payback for what she did to Sammy. The ending also had a complete twist that I did not see coming at all. It is because of the ending that I gave this review more stars than I had intended to.

Overall, I feel like if Stine had been able to give a detailed explanation of the history behind Brent's character, I would have enjoyed this book more. So, even though this is not one of the better Goosebumps books, if you hare a fan of the series, you can take a look at it.

Deyue Yan, PhD, is a professor at the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, P.R. China, and a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Of not use to me

This book was a disappointment to me. Was hoping to find out more about my ancestors who were original settlers to this town. My Great-Great Grandmother and Great-Grandfather were only mentioned in 2 places. One mention was of the cemetery where my Great-Grandfather is buried.. (Already have pictures of the headstones in the Gussettville cemetery. The other mention is of my great-great-grandmother as having receiving a land grant (already have a copy of land grant). I truly though that since she was the only woman of the 12 who received these original grants that there would be more about her in this book. Big disappointment. Might be useful to others but not ne. Sorry I wasted the $50 on this.

About the Author
X. J. Kennedy, after graduating from Seton Hall and Columbia, became a journalist second class in the Navy. His poems, some published in The New Yorker, were first collected in Nude Descending a Staircase (1961). Since then he has published seven more collections, including a volume of new and selected poems in 2007, several widely adopted literature and writing textbooks, and seventeen books for children, including two novels. He has taught at Michigan, North Carolina (Greensboro), California (Irvine), Wellesley, Tufts, and Leeds. Cited in Bartlett's Familiar Quotations and reprinted in some 200 anthologies, his verse has brought him a Guggenheim fellowship, a Lamont Award, a Los Angeles Times Book Prize, an award from the American Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters, an Aiken-Taylor prize, and the Award for Poetry for Children from the National Council of Teachers of English. He now lives in Lexington, Massachusetts, where he and his wife Dorothy have collaborated on five books and five children.

Dana Gioia is a poet, critic, and teacher.�Born in Los Angeles of Italian and Mexican ancestry, he attended Stanford and Harvard before taking a detour into business. After years of writing and reading late in the evenings after work, he quit a vice presidency to write and teach. He has published four collections of poetry, Daily Horoscope (1986), The Gods of Winter (1991), Interrogations at Noon (2001), which won the American Book Award, and Pity the Beautiful (2012); and three critical volumes, including Can Poetry Matter? (1992), an influential study of poetry's place in contemporary America.
Gioia has taught at Johns Hopkins, Sarah Lawrence, Wesleyan (Connecticut), Mercer, and Colorado College. From 2003 to 2009 he served as the Chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts. At the NEA he created the largest literary programs in federal history, including Shakespeare in American Communities and Poetry Out Loud, the national high school poetry recitation contest. He also led the campaign to restore active literary reading by creating The Big Read, which helped reverse a quarter century of decline in U.S. reading. He is currently the Judge Widney Professor of Poetry and Public Culture at the University of Southern California.

Excellent Book!

Excellent step-by-step book to begin recovering from hoarding, and to prevent "collecting" from growing into a bigger problem. My sister has a hoarding problem, and I really appreciated the author's advice about what family members should not do. Unfortunately, I had already gotten rid of a lot of my sister's hoard that I had allowed to expand into my home before I realized she had such a serious problem. She refused to come get it or deal with it. I couldn't store it anymore. She's still not speaking to me. Hoarders and family and friends of hoarders really need to read this book.

Good refresher if you've read IDDD book, not too great as your only/first DDD book

Vaughn Vernon previously wrote a great book on DDD (IDDD), so I was curious what this one has to offer. I have to say that I remain slightly confused, this basically feels like a shorter and simpler version of IDDD, without code samples.

First things first you will learn the most important DDD concepts such as entities, aggregates, events, and how to design model systems using event storming. The chapters on the individual concepts felt somewhat vague however it was a nice refresher. If you're new to DDD I'm not sure if has comprehensive enough explanations.

Understanding rather complex things (modelling Aggregate Roots for example) without seeing the real code samples feels ... hard. Perhaps even too hard. If you're a developer, you might want to consider this book if you've heard of DDD but you know you haven't got the time to go through a much more detailed IDDD book. If you're working in a less technical position, this book is actually quite nice as it describes the high-level planning process called Event Storming and it re-visits SCRUM and its original ideas (it was supposed to be a tool for communicating/learning but it ended up being misused by many managers as a tool for controlling timelines).

It's been a while since I read IDDD and to be fair I finished this book during an flight - that's quite a good time investment. On the other hand had this been my only DDD book I'd have probably ended up being pretty confused.

This is what I needed. I've been interested in DDD for a while now, but could never take the time to understand it. The book is small, but well done. If you've been curious about DDD, like me, and need to get a general understanding before taking on more detailed books this is a great place to start.

Concise and accurate descriptions to DDD

Concise and accurate descriptions of Domain-Driven Design(DDD) from aspacts of strategic and tactical designs along with business processes and operations triggered in "commands" followed by domain events; domain events drive the design and implementation processes modeling needs of complex business domains, at least, by my knowledge on DDD to comment with my years of pratice in software engineering. To this book, it is an excellent companion to the author's another important book on DDD: "Implementing Domain-Driven Design."
